We've continued a stellar year with unprecedented success at two of the beer industry’s major international competitions. The Cornish company today announced it is celebrating cross-category wins in both the World Beer Awards and International Beer Challenge.
Success in the International Beer Challenge includes Silver medals for Wolf Rock Red IPA and Belgian style beer, Chalky’s Bite. The brewery also secured five bronze awards, for flagship cask ale Doom Bar plus Camel Valley Pilsner, Offshore Pilsner, Tripel O and Sea Fury. With 72 different categories reflecting the diversity in brewing today, the highly-respected International Beer Challenge panel recognises the skill of the brewer as well as the excellence of the product.
Following on from that success, we also saw our Camel Valley Pilsner win a “World’s Best” award in the Speciality Brut Beer category at the World Beer Awards. This award is something that most brewers only dream of and follows a ‘World’s Best’ lager award for Offshore Pilsner (previously known as Cornish Pilsner) in 2013. In addition, Sharp’s also picked up country award wins i.e. Best in the UK for Wolf Rock, Chalky’s Bite and Sea Fury in their categories. Furthermore, Atlantic picked up a Gold medal in the Pale Ale category while Doom Bar picked up a Silver medal in Amber ales.
James Nicholls, Marketing Controller at Sharp’s Brewery, comments on the wins: “These awards are an enormous achievement and we’re incredibly proud to be recognised for the quality of our beers and our commitment to word class brewing. These wins are testament to the strength and depth of our portfolio. Not only does Doom Bar continue to excite drinkers, but our wider portfolio of beers are also generating widespread recognition. We know that the IBC and World Beer Awards judging processes are rigorous, so we’re truly honoured to pick up twelve prizes this year for beers that really showcase our brewing capabilities”.
