People may be used to pairing fine food and wine together but there are still many who have yet to discover the delicious adventure that can be had pairing beer and food. This year at the Great Cornish Food Festival, taking place at Lemon Quay, Truro, from Friday 22nd – Sunday 24th of September, Our beer experts will be offering any visitor the opportunity to receive a personal beer and food pairing advice session, with samples from our award winning portfolio of ales and beers.
We’re a sponsor of the Chef’s Theatre this year and Lemon Quay will be awash with mouth-watering food over the three day event. Our ‘Beer Champions’ will be on hand every day outside the Chef’s Theatre to offer hungry eaters advice on which beer to pair with their Cornish produce purchased from any of the festival stands, and offering samples from our wide range of award winning beers.
The theatre is the heart of the festival and once again there are some fantastic chefs lined up for demos, including Nathan Outlaw, Jack Stein, Dan Cox (formerly of Fera, Claridges), Stephane Delourme (The Seafood Restaurant) and Adam Banks (Fifteen) to name a few.
Based in Rock, on the North Cornish coast, our brewery has been at the heart of the evolving food and beer pairing scene with our own Beer Sommelier Ed Hughes working closely with Michelin star chef Nathan Outlaw and his team at our joint venture, The Mariners Public House, offering exceptional beer to match the quality seasonal menu.
Head Chef at The Mariners, Zack Hawke, will be showcasing how to cook with beer on the main stage of the Chef’s Theatre alongside Ed Hughes on Friday 22nd September at 4pm where samples will be given out to audience members. Our fantastic Brewery Brand Ambassador Sam Lyne will also be conducting a beer tasting session at 2.30pm on the deck stage on Friday 22nd September.
Ed Hughes says, “The Great Cornish Food Festival is the largest event dedicated to Cornish food and drink, and the south west is home to many quality producers, which makes for an exciting festival for us all. We’re particularly looking forward to meeting visitors from near and far and match beers to the delicious food on offer at the festival”.
