Indian Pale Ale (IPA) was first brewed in the 19th Century. Naturally preserved by high alcohol and strong hops the beer was well set to survive the long and hot journey under sail to India.
With Atlantic IPA Sharp's Brewery has taken the essence of the original IPA and modernised it to create a crisp beer with a superb dry finish and a light golden colour.
As a brewery sitting on Cornwall's Atlantic coast the naming of this beer came naturally. The RNLI's commitment to saving lives at sea is legendary and to support this cause, a proportion of all Atlantic IPA sales will be donated to the RNLI.
Taste Notes from Head Brewer Stuart Howe
"Brewed from an all malt grist and a blend of four hop varieties, each added at different stages in the brewing process, it is small wonder that Atlantic IPA is such a complex beer. The aroma is fresh with a citrus, hop and light candyfloss notes. The flavour is crisp and succulent with a light sweetness giving way to a hoppy dryness. The bittersweet finish becomes delightfully dry and lingers appetisingly on the palate. The delicate flavour and light mouth feel belie Atlantic IPA's generous 4.8% ABV which can be the undoing of the unsuspecting drinker."
